How we write, check and update every page.
How pages are written
Every reference page follows the same structure: a direct answer, the reasons behind it, the signs to watch for and what to do. We write from primary veterinary sources such as the ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center, the Merck Veterinary Manual and peer-reviewed research, and we list those sources on every page.
Review
Before a page is published it is reviewed by a qualified veterinary professional, whose name and review date are shown on the page. Pages are re-reviewed at least every 12 months or when new evidence is published.
Corrections
If you spot an error, please contact us. We correct mistakes quickly and note significant corrections at the foot of the page.
Independence
Advertisers and affiliate partners have no influence over our verdicts. Food, plant and emergency pages never contain affiliate links.
